I'm sure that everyone has heard of Google, but did you know that they have an application called Google Docs? It's just one of the many great "apps" in Google that I have come to rely on. Check out the list below and if you answer yes to any of them, then you should definitely check out Google Docs.
1. Have you ever needed a document that is on another computer?
2. Have you ever worked on a single document with another person and have had to email it back and forth, making sure you delete older versions so you wouldn't get them mixed up?
3. Have you ever needed to collect data from a variety of individuals and then had to compile it all yourself into one document?
4. Have you ever had a simple presentation that required you to work with someone else?
5. Have you ever needed to work on a document, spreadsheet, and/or presentation and needed to chat with them at the same time?
If you've found yourself in any of the above situations, Google Docs can be a live saver. So where do you begin? Easy.
1)You need an account with Google as will anyone else you are collaborating with. - Free by the way.
2)You need to be able to type, browse for already created documents, and have a general knowledge of Word, Excel, and Power Point to use these document functions.
That's about it. The best way to learn more about Google Docs is to play! In fact, they just recently released a form creation function in their Excel docs application. You can gather data on the fly and have it readily accessible via web link. The data is automatically compiled for you in the spreadsheet. There is no need to even fill out the fields. Those are created for you as you create the survey, which is simple in itself. Check out the survey I created and the results as well. The results are refreshed every five minutes.
